Pictures of the world’s tallest bushes

It takes centuries of gradual progress for the world’s tallest bushes to succeed in heights far past the tops of their surrounding forests. As they stretch for the sky, the giants nurture ever-changing ecosystems of crops and animals. Since 2015, Steven Pearce and Jennifer Sanger, a Tasmanian photographer-and-ecologist duo, have been documenting Earth’s distinctive and underappreciated behemoths. The pair use mountaineering gear to ascend lots of of toes from the bushes’ roots to their wind-punished crowns. With the assistance of a home made dual-camera rig hooked up to a pulley system, Pearce shoots dozens of photographs over a number of weeks at every web site and combines them into large gigapixel panoramas. The ensuing photographs seize the long-standing beauties earlier than human interference can diminish or destroy them.
